Created from sturdy thick canvas made of unbleached cotton, this bag takes you back in time. Feel like a traveler (or even a news reporter), covering the war story of the African Republic of Congo - and a frequent passenger on Air Zaire. With a subtle sporty look, this bag comes with vinyl handles and detachable straps for those on the go. Dual Ark logo vintage-style brass zipper heads keep it easy-access. Inside is lined in matching brown, with an inner zipped compartment to hide your valuables. There's also a mesh pocket to fit your netbook or iPad
The history of this bag is quite interesting. The name 'Air Zaire' dates back to the early 60's. The Belgian national airline, Sabena, was known as 'The African Gateway to Europe'.
When the Republic of Congo gained its independence from Belgium it formed its own national airline, taking over Sabena and adopting the new name 'Air Congo'. Meanwhile, political drama, war and a coup brought Mobutu Sésé into power. In October of 1971 The Democratic Republic of Congo changed its name to The Republic of Zaire.
